HIDDEN MONEY: NEW YORK POST INTERVIEW!

HIDDEN MONEY: NEW YORK POST INTERVIEW!

PER NY POST . . .

If you think that, given the perfect opportunity, you could pull off the perfect crime, raise your hand. Apparently, you are not alone, as most people seem to think that they are far wilier than the professionals tasked with keeping our streets safe.

ABC’s “Take the Money and Run,” premiering Tuesday, takes that premise and creates an entire game around it. Two civilians are given a briefcase containing $100,000 and one hour in which to hide it. When the hour is up, the pair is taken into custody, separated and put into a real jail.

Two local detectives, in conjunction with interrogators Paul Bishop and Mary Hanlon Stone, then have 48 hours to find the briefcase.

If the detectives locate the briefcase by the deadline, they keep the money. If not, the two players will keep the $100,000.

Bishop is a senior detective with the LA Police Department. Hanlon Stone is a deputy district attorney in Los Angeles. The two, who are also both novelists, have honed the craft of interrogation over their years of working together.

“It takes a long time to develop this kind of instinct and skill,” says Bishop. “I’ve been doing this for 35 years, and it wasn’t until 10 years ago that I found myself always knowing where I was going . . .”
