Robert R. Mill (1894-1942), newspaper man and court reporter, made a name for himself covering headline-grabbing events such as the Snyder-Gray trail and the Lindbergh kidnapping case. He counted among his friends J. Edgar Hoover and Major John Warner, Superintendant of the New York State Police and interacted with underworld figures Dutch Schultz, "Legs" Diamond, Steve Pawlon and other nefarious characters of the day. Mill died during World War II following a U-Boat scouting expedition.
