JOHN CARTER RULES

Just re-watched (for the umpteenth time) the much maligned (by know nothing critics) John Carter movie and was once gain convinced of the film's greatness. It is a great translation of ERB's A PrincessOf Mars, and deserves a sequel that doesn't involve a scourge of meddling Disney executives and marketing gurus not worthy of the name...I get hooked in every time I channel surf and land on a cable network where it is showing...

  1. I am right there with you. I loved this film, even upon the first viewing. Michael Giacchino's score is magnificent, swinging from western melodies to sweeping action/adventure. I didn't have a problem with the framing device. Back in 2012, my SF book club read the first novel and then went to see the film. I ended up charging ahead and reading the first five novels in a row.

  2. I agree. A movie that should've been a much bigger hit, and a sequel should begin filming immediately.

  3. I'm tired at work today because the damn movie caught my attention last night while channel surfing in bed. Next thing I knew it was after 1:00 AM, and I was made happy again by another viewing of the film.

  4. I'm with the choir on this one. I never understood the all the negative BS that was flying around. I'll admit that some of the dialogue was corny, but that was just in keeping with original style of the story. Maybe if there had been more cursing and some naked women the critics would have been happier. :-/
